(Laredo, Tx)-The J.B. Alexander High School choir members were presented with a guitar from Guitar Center in honor of their upcoming performance with rock band Foreigner.  Choir members from both Alexander and United High Schools will be performing with the band tonight.

Welcome New Foreign Exchange Student Renan Gonzales Alves

(Laredo, Tx)-United High School Principal Alberto Aleman, Jr. stands with Brazilian foreign exchange student Renan Gonzales Alves.  He is from the City of Sao Paulo and will be attending the Longhorn campus for the 2014-15 school year. 
Alves has only been in Laredo for one week, but says he is very happy to be at the campus but adjusting to the hot weather in Laredo.  Alves would like to be a doctor like his father back in Brazil.  He is an 11th grader at UHS.

 (Laredo, Tx)-UISD Police Department is pleased to announce the swearing-in of ten peace officers that have joined the UISD Police Department and will be serving this 2014-2015 School Year!

The UISD Police Department continues their commitment and dedication to the safety and welfare of all students, staff, and visitors of the district.  “United ISD is the first Police department in the nation that assigns a Police Officer to every elementary Campus, Said Chief of Police Camarillo.”

(Laredo, Tx) On August 18, 2014 the UISD Police Department in conjunction with the UISD Grants Administration Department was awarded funding to cover half the cost of 35 bullet proof vests for UISD Police Officers from the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (B.V.P.), of the U.S. Department of Justice.
The total project cost was $20,788.00, out of which the partnership contributed  $9,951.00.  
All of the vests meet safety standards set by the federal government and have been tested by the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center.

(Laredo, Tx)-The United I.S.D. “Stuff the Bus” bus  will be   at the H-E-B on Del Mar Blvd. and McPherson Road from 9:00 a.m. to noon this Saturday (August 16th)  United I.S.D. volunteers will be accepting donations of school supplies and gently used uniforms for students in need.  Your donations would be greatly appreciated.

UISD’s Jumpstart Summer Enrichment Program

  (Laredo, Tx)-United ISD campuses will open their doors to students in two short weeks. At present there are a few incoming 6th and 9th graders who are getting an early start on the school year by participating in UISD’s Jumpstart Summer Enrichment Program.  The 10-day regimen is designed to sharpen students’ reading and math skills to be better prepared for the STARR tests.  United ISD Jumpstart sites include Antonio Gonzalez Middle, Los Obispos Middle, Salvador Garcia Middle, Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle and Lyndon B. Johnson High Schools.  …

Photo Recap:  LBJ Wolves Spring Training 2014

(Laredo, Tx)- The Lyndon B. Johnson Wolves opened their 2014 Spring Training today bright and early in the morning.  The Wolves ran offensive and defensive drills with an emphasis on speed and proper tackling techniques.    The Wolves will continue to workout in the mornings until the beginning of the school year.
