(Laredo, Tx)-The United I.S.D. “Stuff the Bus” bus  will be   at the H-E-B on Del Mar Blvd. and McPherson Road from 9:00 a.m. to noon this Saturday (August 16th)  United I.S.D. volunteers will be accepting donations of school supplies and gently used uniforms for students in need.  Your donations would be greatly appreciated.

UISD’s Jumpstart Summer Enrichment Program

  (Laredo, Tx)-United ISD campuses will open their doors to students in two short weeks. At present there are a few incoming 6th and 9th graders who are getting an early start on the school year by participating in UISD’s Jumpstart Summer Enrichment Program.  The 10-day regimen is designed to sharpen students’ reading and math skills to be better prepared for the STARR tests.  United ISD Jumpstart sites include Antonio Gonzalez Middle, Los Obispos Middle, Salvador Garcia Middle, Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle and Lyndon B. Johnson High Schools.  …

UISD Grad and Local Attorney Gives Out Scholarships

Johnson Wolves opened their 2014 Spring Training today bright and early in the morning.  The Wolves ran offensive and defensive drills with an emphasis on speed and proper tackling techniques.    The Wolves will continue to workout in the mornings until the beginning of the school year.

United ISD Names Several Administrators to Director Posts

UISD Discipline Management Team at Chicago Conference

(Laredo, Tx)-Annette Perez, UISD Director of Discipline Management, was accompanied by her group of District Gang Facilitators when she attended the National Conference for School Discipline in Chicago Ill.
While there, Ms. Perez and her entourage presented and discussed some of the protocols that are utilized by the District to address girl-bullying, which includes direct intervention, student and parent education, safety plans, and a district-wide curriculum. The conference was held June 29-July 2.

UISD Announces Summer Break and Tax Office Hours Of Operation

 (Laredo, Tx_The following departments of the United Independent School District will observe a special work schedule for the week of July 7, 2014.  The schedule will be as a follows:
 UISD Tax Office (located at 3501 East Saunders)-Any UISD taxpayer who would like to pay their District taxes in person can do so between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from July 7 through July 10, 2014.  The Tax Office will be closed on July 11, 2014.  Taxpayers may also pay their taxes anytime online at the …

Clemente Camarillo Sworn in as UISD Police Chief

 (Laredo, Tx)-United ISD is Proud to announce that is has a new top cop.  Clemente Camarillo was sworn in as police chief on Monday, June 30 before District colleagues, honored guests and representatives from the Webb County law enforcement community.  Camarillo previously served the District as Interim Chief of Police for the last calendar year.  Webb County and Zapata’s District Attorney, Isidro “Chilo” Alaniz presided over the searing in ceremony, which took place at the SAC meeting room # 1.  Camarillo has a long and distinguished history with …
