Newly Sworn-in UISD police officers ready for first day for school

(Laredo, Tx)-Seven new officers were officially sworn in as UISD Police officers at a Badge Pinning Ceremony this afternoon at United Middle School’s Cafeteria.
The newly sworn-in police officers increase the department to nearly 85 officers.  The UISD Police Department continues their commitment and dedication to the safety and welfare of all students, staff, and visitors of the district.
Chief Clemente Camarillo and the entire UISD Police Department wish all students a safe, successful start to the 2015- 2016 school year.   Child safety is our priority.

New Contract Means Energy Savings for UISD

      On July 28, 2015 UISD took a pivotal step towards saving money on electricity when it signed on to a cost saving five year (60 month), contract with Houston based MP2 Energy. The top-tier power company manages power plants, delivers electricity to end-use customers, and masters all other aspects of the power markets. The new agreement between Mp2 and UISD is effective on January 1, 2016. 
The new rate per Kilowatt Hour (KWH) offered by MP2 $0.04361. The District’s current rate is $0.0704, for an estimated savings …

UNITED ISD TO HONOR LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS

Laredo, Texas/United ISD:  Several news outlets, that will include radio, television and newspaper, will be named to the 2015 Media Honor Roll tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the SAC Auditorium, located at 5208 Santa Claudia Lane, during the regular monthly meeting of the United ISD Board of Trustees. The program is sponsored by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) and by the United Independent School District. United Day School Students Donate to Laredo’s Public School Districts

(Laredo, Texas)-With a little help from their parents, a group of enterprising United Day School students sold lemonade during the summer. Their goal was to lend assistance to UISD and LISD students who are in need of school supplies. The students raised a total of $350.00, and each district received a check in the amount of $175.00. Mr. Tony Martinez, who has two students attending the school, worked with fellow parents to help launch the project.

Laredo’s Costco Distribution Center Donates Backpacks to UISD Students

  (Laredo, Tx)- For many years, Laredo’s Costco Distribution Center has helped  thousands of UISD students prepare for school by donating backpacks and school supplies. Once again, Costco has generously donated 800 backpacks, each filled everyday school necessities. The backpacks are being distributed to students at campuses across the District.

(Laredo, Texas)-United ISD schools and administrative departments, with an exception of the Tax Office, will resume a regular work schedule on August 10, 2015. District work hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Tax Office located at 3501 E. Saunders will return to a regular work schedule as well. However, they will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Taxpayers have an option to pay their taxes online at the District’s website located at www.uisd.net, …

(Laredo, Texas)-On June 30, 2015 Brandy Barrientos, a recent graduate of Lyndon B. Johnson High School (LBJHS),signed a scholarship to continue her education and basketball career at Morthland College in West Frankfort, Illinois. Barrientos started playing varsity basketball for the LBJHS Lady Wolves team during her freshman year, then rose in the ranks to play as a starter during her junior year, and then the forward position during her senior year.
