Former Border Patrol agent to serve two consecutive life sentences
Laredo, TX (Webb County) – Ronald Anthony Burgos Avilés, the former United States Border Patrol agent who was found guilty of murdering Grizelda Hernandez and his son, was transferred this morning to the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas, where he will be serving two consecutive life sentences without parole.
Last week, a jury in 49th State District Court in Laredo found Burgos Aviles guilty of the heinous crimes.
He was arrested on April 10, 2018, following the discovery of the lifeless bodies of the victims, Hernandez and Burgos Aviles’ son, near Fr. Charles McNaboe Park off Mines Road. He spent 1,934 days at the Webb County Jail and left at 4 am today enroute to the Huntsville prison.
The Sheriff’s Office Special Tactical Team that is in place to handle high-risk inmates transported Aviles Burgos.
“We are relieved that he will now be serving justice for the innocent lives he so cowardly cut short,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “He is heading where he belongs. He will pay for these crimes.”
There are no winners / hopefully his wife and two lovely boys will have a peaceful life now / she need compassion now / gray and Dominics family need to heal now / it has been a very hard time for them !
