UISD and Powell Watson Motors Group Announce 7th Annual Golf Fundraiser for Students

(Laredo, Texas)-The Powell Watson Motors Auto Group hosted a United ISD press conference at their GMC/Buick dealership to announce the 7th Annual Partners for Scholars Golf Tournament for UISD students. During the press conference, Zachary Powell, Executive Manager of Toyota of Laredo presented a check in the amount of $15,000.00 to get this year’s fundraising effort underway.
“We are thankful for community leaders like the Powell Watson Auto group because they always step up to help our children succeed. This is their 7th year as lead sponsor for the tournament and we appreciate their continued partnership with our district,” said Superintendent David H. Gonzalez.
The 7th annual Partners for Scholars Golf dTournament will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course located at 27700 Mines Road (FM1472). Tee-off is at 8:30 a.m. The event, coordinated through the United ISD Athletics Department, is a three person scramble competition comprising 40 teams.
Final results will be announced at the conclusion of the event and first, second and third place trophies will be awarded to the top teams.
Meals and beverages will be served, and all proceeds from the tournament will be utilized to provide kick-start scholarships to financially challenged UISD high school students who desire to begin their college or university studies after graduation from one of the district’s four high schools.
