Domestic Violence Arrest of a Federal Agent

 On Sunday February 21, 2010 the Laredo Police Department received a 911 call with a distressed background at the 11000 block of Salado Drive.  When officers arrived they arrested Jose Ramon Gonzalez, 27 yr old, for Assault Family Violence Class A misdemeanor.  Allegedly Gonzalez got into an argument with a female and allegedly assaulted her.  The officers did report visible signs that the victim had been assaulted.  She was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.  No transport to the hospital was required.   Gonzalez is a …

In observance of the one-year anniversary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) state transportation officials have obligated approximately $1.9 billion of the $2.25 billion Texas received for transportation projects.
To date, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has spent approximately $389 million for highways and bridges, public transportation, and general aviation.

Sheriff’s Deputies Take Marijuana Off The Highway

 Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at approximately 6:27 p.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a traffic stop a mile north of the Zapata/Webb County Line on Highway 83 South.  The  driver of a white Chrysler LHS, bearing paper plates refused to stop, resulting in a chase.  The Chrysler malfunctioned, the driver then fled on foot but within minutes was apprehended by Sheriff Deputy while attempting to jump over a deer proof fence.

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Tuesday, February 16, 2010, an anonymous call to the Crime Stoppers Division, led Deputies and ICE Agents to the 1900 block of Camp Street. Further investigation led to the seizure of 1.2 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $76.00. (LAREDO, Texas) – A Mexican citizen and legal permanent resident has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for smuggling almost two kilograms of methamphetamine into the United States, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno announced today.

CBP Officers at Laredo Port of Entry Seize $2.5 Million in Marijuana and Cocaine this President’s Day Holiday Week

 LAREDO, TEXAS – As Laredo rolls into high gear for its annual Washington’s Birthday celebration activities, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry this week did their part to ring in the holiday by seizing $2.5 million in marijuana and cocaine in four separate enforcement actions.

 The Laredo Police Narcotics/Vice Unit assisted by Laredo Police Patrol Division , K-9 section, ICE, and DEA conducted an narcotics investigation by the Laredo Truck Stop located on 5300 Old Santa Maria. Failure to Appear Leads to Warrant

 Prosecutors with the Special Victims Unit of the Office of the District Attorney are appealing to the public to assist in locating Luis Alberto Lara (8/5/1981).  Lara was scheduled to appear in the 406th District Court early this morning for sentencing by the Honorable Judge Oscar Hale, Jr.  The sentence stems from a charge of Sexual Assault of a Child, a second degree felony.

 On Thursday, February 18, 2010 Laredo Police Dispatch received an emergency call at 10:13 pm concerning an Automobile with a Pedestrian traffic accident.  The location was at the intersection of Springfield and Elm Street.  The pedestrian identified as Adan Gamez, 74, was struck by a 1994 Mazda Protégé being driven by 54 year old Raymundo Garcia.  Mr. Gamez was apparently crossing Springfield at the intersection with Elm Street from West to East.  The vehicle was traveling southbound at the 3300 block of Springfield then struck Mr. Gamez.  Mr. …

Arrest Made on 2009 Jewelry Store Theft

Back on July 13, 2009, at approximately 7:16 pm, Laredo Police were dispatched to Oro Valle, a kiosk located at 5300 San Dario for a theft report. Upon arrival, Officers discovered that two male subjects stole an expensive jewelry item after asking to see it. One suspect was wearing a red/white striped shirt and black cap, the second subject was wearing a blue shirt and a white cap.
