On Sunday February 21, 2010 the Laredo Police Department received a 911 call with a distressed background at the 11000 block of Salado Drive.  When officers arrived they arrested Jose Ramon Gonzalez, 27 yr old, for Assault Family Violence Class A misdemeanor.  Allegedly Gonzalez got into an argument with a female and allegedly assaulted her.  The officers did report visible signs that the victim had been assaulted.  She was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.  No transport to the hospital was required.   Gonzalez is a Border Patrol Agent assigned to the Del Rio sector.  He was off duty when the incident occurred.

I guess everybody who gets charged with a crime must have done it. No crazy woman would ever get pissed and hurt herself on purpose because the guy is trying to leave her.

Or maybe he really did do it and if so he deserves what he gets.

Life sucks. Domestic abuse is a serious crime in the Border Patrol agency. Drunk driving isn’t but domestic issues can definitely get you fired. I feel for the female.

He will be proposed for at least 14 days off if he is simply cited and released and the wife/girlfriend refuses to charge him. If convicted, he will no longer be authorized to carry a firearm, therefore, he will be set up for termination. On the plus side, the Border Patrol will have gotten rid of a domestic abuser and should have one additional opening for the station and sector. Apply now!
