(Laredo, Texas)-The UISD Federal Programs’Family Matters Resource Center (FMRC), hosted its formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The event was attended by Board Member Aliza Flores Oliveros, Superintendent David H. Gonzalez, and several administrators. Special guests included Congressman Henry Cuellar, Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz, and former Board Member Pat Campos.
Cuellar presented Federal Programs Executive Director Rebecca Coss-Morales with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition that recognizes the meticulous planning that went into the founding and opening of the South Laredo hub – which provides support to families (in several areas), including services to parents while children are in class, assistance with mental health resources, workforce skills, technology programs, and reading materials/study areas for elementary and secondary level students.
The FMRC also provides pantry items and gently used clothing to UISD families in times of crisis or economic challenge. The center is located at 4906 Zapata Highway
