City of Laredo Hosts Toy and Blanket Distribution

LAREDO, Texas—The City of Laredo visited various local organizations last week to distribute items collected through a recent donation drive among all City of Laredo employees. In total, over 140 items were donated to local organizations including 44 blankets, 19 packages of socks and 84 wrapped gifts for children.

The donation drive took place during this year’s City of Laredo employee luncheon on December 16, which focused on giving back to the community. While this was the first time the City of Laredo hosted an employee holiday donation drive, it plans to continue the tradition on a yearly basis, hoping to see the number of donations grow each year.

The items were distributed based on need at local entities including Bethany House, the Holding Institute and Casa de Misericordia.

“Our employees are always looking for ways in which they can give back to the community,” said Co-Interim City Manager Rosario Cabello. “These donations came from the goodness of their hearts and for that I thank everyone who participated.”

“As city employees, we are blessed to be able to serve our community and we believe in giving back, especially during the holiday season,” added Co-Interim City Manager Robert Eads. “We expect this to be an annual tradition in our organization and become forever woven into our fabric,” he added.
