On April 11,an LPD Highway Interdiction Officer pulled over a 2004 Ford Expedition for a traffic violation by the 6600 block of San Dario, near a restaurant parking lot. As the officer approached the driver’s door he quickly detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the car, and noted that the driver was acting extremely nervous and was being elusive.
The officer found probable cause for searching the car after running a K9 around the vehicle and the K9 indicating a detection of narcotics in the vehicle. Several large bundles were located inside the rear portion of the vehicle. The bundles totaled 268 pounds which is estimated to be worth approximately $100,000 in street value.
The LPD narcotics division took over the investigation and arrested the driver identified as 31 year old Cesar Reyes of Laredo, Texas. He was booked and charged with Possession of Marijuana Felony 2. He was taken to Webb County Jail where he was held under no bond.
