Written by Post Public Information Representative, Mar 6, 2012, 0 Comments
Holi, an Indian festival of colors celebrating the beginning of Spring, will take place at TAMIU for the first time. Holi is a Hindu celebration, also known as the festival of colors. It is part religious, but primarily celebrates the beginning of Spring.
During the festival, participants splash each other in vibrant colored powder or colored water while they dance. The celebration dates back to many Hindu legends associated with the triumph of good over evil. It also gives many people a chance to play and dance. The event is one of many cultural awareness events co-sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs and the Association of International Students.
The event will take place at the University Green on Thursday, March 8, from 3 – 7 p.m.
