            Laredo Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Marcus Nelson announced several administrative and campus assignments within the district. The changes are effective July 1.  

            Lorenia Torres was named Assistant Principal at Lamar Middle School.

             Oscar Perez will serve as Interim Director of Secondary Education.

            Guillermo Pro was named Interim Principal of Martin High School. 

            Richard Chaney was named Interim Principal of Lara Academy. 

            Lizzy Newsome was appointed Interim Principal of Memorial Middle School.  

            Elias Alonso will serve as the Interim Director of the Non-Traditional High School and continue his responsibilities as Career and Applied Technology Director. 

            Rosina Silva was named Interim Director of Guidance and Counseling and will continue to coordinate the work of the Parent Involvement Office. 

            Connie Vela was appointed Interim Director Assessment and Evaluation. 

            Blas Martinez will direct Federal Programs and Student Hearings. 

            Cindy Cruz was named Interim Bilingual Director. She will also continue as the Elementary Language Arts Dean. 

            Raul Gomez was appointed Interim Director of Special Education. 

            Carlos Luna was appointed Interim Fine Arts Director. He will also continue to serve as Head Band Director at Nixon High School

      Dr. Nelson also made several changes in assistant principals at LISD campuses. 

      Rosalba Martinez, who is currently the assistant principal at J.C. Martin Elementary, is being transferred to Santo Nino Elementary. 

      Margarita Quiroz will be the assistant principal at J.C. Martin Elementary. She was previously at Kawas Elementary. 

      Guadalupe Benavides will serve as assistant principal at Macdonell Elementary.  She was previously at Daiches Elementary. 

      Miguel Chapa was named assistant principal at Cigarroa Middle School. Chapa was assistant principal at Lamar Middle. 

      Jose De Leon was transferred to Christen Middle School. He was assistant principal at Cigarroa Middle. 

      Carmen Deleza will be the assistant principal at Santa Maria Elementary. She was previously assistant principal at Memorial Middle School.

      Alfredo Vergara, who was assistant principal at Alma Pierce Elementary, has been transferred to Daiches Elementary.

      Esteban Lopez, who was assistant principal at Lamar Middle, will be transferred to Memorial Middle.

 Sam Sanchez will be assistant principal at Lamar Middle School. He was previously at Memorial Middle School.

“I am confident that these appointees will lead the school district to levels of achievement that have yet to be experienced at LISD for our children and the daily administration of our schools and programs,” said LISD Superintendent Dr. Marcus Nelson.
