George Steinbrenner Dies in Tampa, Florida

George Steinbrenner owner of the New York Yankess died this morning in Tampa, Florida of a heart attack. Steinbrenner took over the New York Yankees in 1973 purchasing the team along with other minority owners from CBS during this time the Yankees won 11 Penanants and 7 World Series. George Steinbrenner pulled no punches in getting what he wanted overseeing the operation with an iron fist hiring and firing managers that included Billy Martin and Yogi Berra was common in the Yankee Organization. Steinbrenner was in control of the team until failing health in 2006 forced him to step down while his sons ran the Yankees Team.
