On Monday, June 15, 2010 approximately a few minutes after midnight LPD officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Cortez (Three Points Park) in reference to a criminal mischief in progress.  Laredo dispatch said that two anonymous callers were reporting to police that there were three male subjects in the park shooting a BB gun.  One caller described one subject wearing a red cap with white shirt and the second subjects wearing a black shirt.  The caller further advised of a third subject riding a bicycle.  As per the two callers, the subjects were causing damage to the park with the BB gun.

Upon arrival an officer spotted two subjects, who matched the reported description, standing by the south side of the park.  As the subjects saw the officer approaching them, they ran north bound inside the park in an attempt to elude police.  The park was quickly surrounded by police officers and the two suspects were detained and arrested.  Detained was a male 14 year old and Javier David Morales, age 19.  Morales was wearing a red cap, white shirt, and black shorts as given in the description.  Both suspects were patted down for weapons, but none were located on them.  Officers retraced their steps in an attempt to locate the BB gun.  When officers reached the south side of the park, they noticed glass on the floor.  The shattered glass was resting on the floor around a wooden post.  Officers noticed the wooden post and saw the lamp on top of the wooden post had been damaged.  Not only was the glass around the lamp damaged, but the actual light bulb was broken as well.  After searching the area officers located a long riffle BB gun resting in the grass.  The item was recovered as evidence.  The 14 year old male was detained and Morales was placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Mischief Class A Misdemeanor.  Morales was remanded to the Webb County Jail and held in lieu of no bond set by Justice of the Peace Oscar Liendo.  The juvenile was taken to the Webb County Juvenile Detention Center and was left in the care of the Juvenile Detention Staff.
