LISD Pre-Kinder and Kinder Registration

Laredo Independent School District has scheduled pre-registration for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students for the 2010-2011 school year. Parents can pre-register their children from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning Monday, May 10 – Friday, May 14, at their respective campuses.
Applications forms for pre-kinder and kinder registration are now available and may be picked up at each school.
To be eligible for enrollment into the pre-kindergarten 3 and 4 year old program, a child must be three years old on or before September 1, 2010, and four years old on or before September 1, 2010 and meet the following requirements: the child must be unable to speak and comprehend the English language, be educationally disadvantaged, homeless, the child of an active or deceased member (while on active duty) of the armed forces, and is or has been in foster care.
To be eligible for enrollment into kindergarten, a child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2010.
The following documents are needed for enrollment in the pre-kinder or kinder program: for proof of residency, the latest utility bills such as water, gas, electricity, or rental receipts, proof of income, official birth certificate and Social Security number of the child, and the child’s current immunization records.
Also, families presently residing with a relative must present the required notarized LISD “Host Family Form” along with a copy of a valid driver’s license or a valid picture ID card of both the host and the parent/legal guardian. If a child is residing with an adult other than the parent, the parent and the sponsoring adult must complete the notarized LISD “Power of Attorney Form” along with a copy of a valid driver’s license or a valid picture ID card of both the parent and the sponsoring adult.
School nurses will be available to check the student immunization records to determine if any further vaccinations are necessary. The nurse will administer a questionnaire to parents in order to determine if a TB skin test is necessary.
