On January 11, 2010 a police report was filed by an air conditioning company claiming that one of their employees was allegedly stealing company property. The company claimed that one of their air conditioning technicians was asked for some tools that were assigned to him. The employee, Jose Angel Flores, 47 yrs. old, hesitated at first but then admitted that the items being asked for had been sold to a pawn shop for money. The company, with the intention of terminating the employee, asked for the rest of the company’s equipment and tools. Flores delayed several days returning the company van and the equipment. Flores then told his boss that they had broken into the van at his home and all of the rest of the equipment had been stolen. The employer grew suspicious and called police.
Investigators discovered that Jose Angel Flores had reported a burglary of his company van on January 11, 2010. The investigation unveiled that Jose Angel Flores walked into a local pawn shop, two days after he reported the burglary and theft of the company’s equipment, and sold the items he claimed had been stolen in the burglary. Items recovered at the pawn shop included; a ladder, shop vacuum, A/C gauge, and a furniture dolly. The case was approved for arrest warrants and on February 5, 2010 Jose Angel Flores was arrested by LPD warrant officers for Theft c/b and False Report to a Peace Officer c/b. Flores was remanded to Webb County Jail. Justice of the Peace Oscar Martinez set a combined bond of $3,250.00.
