Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for Kingsville

AUSTIN-South Texas citizens will have an opportunity to talk transportation at a town hall meeting scheduled later this month in Kingsville.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is partnering with Representative Tara Rios Ybarra to host the town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 1 on the Texas A&M University Kingsville campus, 920 University Blvd., Biology Earth Science Building, Room 100 (J. Talmer Peacock Auditorium).

TxDOT, along with the Representative and other local transportation partners, will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on projects and funding, including a brief perspective on regional infrastructure requirements for the future.

Acknowledging transportation’s role in economic development, Representative Ybarra said local and regional leaders look forward to discussing the region’s future infrastructure needs.

“We are excited about TxDOT coming to Kingsville for this town hall meeting,” she added. “We are all about a regional approach from Cameron to Kleberg County, and we look forward to discussing our transportation needs for the next five to 10 years. Transportation is the basic infrastructure we need to help economic development of this region.”

Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in an open dialogue with the agency and local and regional transportation planners.

“This is an excellent opportunity for citizens to provide feedback on regional transportation needs,” said Amadeo Saenz, TxDOT executive director. “The information we bring back will be used to shape our discussions on the future of mobility in Texas.”

TxDOT held three town hall meetings last year in Abilene, Midland/Odessa and McAllen. A Nacogdoches town hall meeting in July drew about 75 participants.
