CBP Officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry Arrest Man Wanted on Warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child


Eagle Pass , Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry apprehended a San Antonio man wanted on a state warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child among other fugitives apprehended over the past two days.

 On July 23, Onesimo Cordero, a 54-year-old U.S. citizen from San Antonio , TX was making entry into the U.S. from Mexico at the vehicular primary lanes of Bridge #1.  A CBP officer conducting a query at primary inspection discovered a possible warrant for Cordero.  In passenger control secondary, CBP officers verified Cordero’s identity and confirmed he had an active warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child out of Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.  Cordero was processed at the port of entry and turned over to deputies from the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office for adjudication of the warrant and extradition to Bexar County .  Cordero’s vehicle was impounded locally.

 In addition, CBP officers apprehended other travelers with active warrants including a missing juvenile and adults wanted for burglary and larceny.

 “Our officers maintained their vigilance, used their inspection skills and CBP systems to apprehend a man wanted for aggravated sexual assault of a child,” said John Salazar, CBP Port Director, Eagle Pass. “Their devotion to the CBP mission helps to keep our borders safe from people wanted on sexually predatory offenses.”
