Founding Fathers Charity Softball Tournament
This year our Softball Complex at Benavides Park will be the host site of the 2nd Annual Founding Fathers Softball Tournament Park’s staff will be very busy assisting with the set up and hosting of the event. The event that will have co-ed teams made up of employees and officials from The City of Laredo, Webb County and Nuevo Laredo.

The City of Laredo Environmental Services Department will host the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event and Tire Round Up. “Citizens are encouraged to save money and the Earth by bringing in hazardous materials on this day for proper disposal, free of charge” said Riazul Mia, director of the Environmental Services Department. “We will also be collecting old tires for cash on Saturday only,” he added.
Items accepted both days are cleaning products, automotive products, paints, solvents, and stains, pool chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and batteries. Items NOT accepted …

The Laredo Police Department arrested Edgar Gabriel Cerda, 40 yrs. old, after Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit found enough evidence to merit a warrant of arrest from an incident that occurred on May 03, 2009 @ a local motel on the 7000 block of San Bernardo. An 11 yr. old child was swimming at the motel pool while he was visiting family members from out of town who were staying at the motel. The child went to the motel lobby to use the public restroom. The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) would like to remind all parents to get their children and teenagers immunized now, especially with new immunization requirements for students entering kindergarten and seventh (7th) grade. All students will need to provide a current immunization record.
