The City of Laredo Environmental Services Department will host the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event and Tire Round Up. “Citizens are encouraged to save money and the Earth by bringing in hazardous materials on this day for proper disposal, free of charge” said Riazul Mia, director of the Environmental Services Department. “We will also be collecting old tires for cash on Saturday only,” he added.
Items accepted both days are cleaning products, automotive products, paints, solvents, and stains, pool chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and batteries. Items NOT accepted on Saturday include commercial waste, radioactive waste, medical waste and ammunition and explosives. A limit of eight tires per household will be accepted; $0.50 per tire will be paid. No tires from businesses will be accepted. However, there will be no limit on tires brought in from non-profits and for fundraisers.
