Founding Fathers Charity Softball Tournament
This year our Softball Complex at Benavides Park will be the host site of the 2nd Annual Founding Fathers Softball Tournament Park’s staff will be very busy assisting with the set up and hosting of the event. The event that will have co-ed teams made up of employees and officials from The City of Laredo, Webb County and Nuevo Laredo.
The tournament will be on Sunday, May 31st, beginning at noon with a double elimination game between Laredo’s PD, Fire, & Webb County Sheriff’s teams versus the Nuevo Laredo’s PD, Fire & Transito teams and continues throughout the day and evening with opening ceremonies at 4:00pm and the City’s co-ed team competing at 4:30pm.
There will be a $1.00 entry fee and all proceeds collected will go to both the Laredo and Nuevo Laredo Food Bank

2009 Summer Reading Club
Summer Reading Club is set to begin June 1st! Lunch and snack will be provided by the LISD food program. A special KLDO Spanish Story Hour is set for every Friday at 11:00 a.m.
Library hosts Internationally–acclaimed local Artist Miki Rodriguez
Come and experience Ms. Rodriguez’s inspirational pieces. Her work reflects her environment, experiences, culture, and heritage as a Latina.
Rodriguez was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. She is the daughter of Oscar and Gloria Rodriguez and is married to James L. Humphries. She began her education in drawing and painting at the University of Houston where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and went on to receive her Master of Sciences in Art (MS) at Texas A&M University at Kingsville. She has taught art in Laredo for over 25 years.
Reading with Ringling Bros. And Barnum Bailey at the Laredo Public Library
Kids can earn a FREE Ringling Bros. circus ticket by simply doing their library reading! Children from ages 2-12 can enroll with staff in the children’s area of the Laredo Public Library. Kids will receive cool bookmarks, clown noses and activity sheets, too! This unique library reading program will encourage children not only to read, but also to discover, dream and learn! Special “Advance Ambassadors of Laughter” will visit the Bruni Plaza Branch on June 3rd at 10:30 a.m. and the Main Library at 2:30 p.m.
Movie Madness at the Library
Come on out of the heat and enjoy a super cool movie at the Library. Mondays June 1st to June 29th from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Snacks will be provided. Kick off movie will be “Enchanted.”
