Laredo, Texas – Laredo Health has been recently awarded a federal grant by the Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention in the amount of $600,000 to enhance public health surveillance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Laredo Health will become a part of the CDC Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network to monitor the number and characteristics of children with ASD over time, track progress in the early identification of ASD, and describe the health and service needs of adolescents with ASD.
This project may be renewed, contingent on funding, for a total of 4 years. This cooperative agreement will support 5 full-time positions that will work with key stakeholder organizations to collect data for 4, 8, and 16-year-old children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
