CBP Advises of Routing of Bus Traffic through Juarez-Lincoln Bridge Topside through Western Canopy Effective after Midnight on May 8

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Laredo Port of Entry is advising that effective after midnight Wednesday, May 8 going into Thursday, all commercial bus traffic at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge will be routed topside through the bridge’s Western Canopy.

“As the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge improvement project nears completion, we want to advise the traveling public of this shift of commercial bus traffic from the former import lot to the Western Canopy, which is equipped to process bus traffic, so they can plan accordingly,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.

As the GSA port improvement project at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge nears completion, CBP this week has begun to make adjustments and it will become official effective after midnight, Wednesday May 8 that all commercial bus traffic will be routed through the bridge’s Western Canopy. The canopy is equipped with large parking lanes for bus passengers to disembark and passengers will be processed in the bus processing building and meet up with their bus after the bus has been examined, passengers have been inspected, admitted to the U.S. and all travel documents have been processed, i.e. I-94 tourist permits issued.

CBP at Laredo Port of Entry strongly recommends that bus passengers apply for their tourist permits electronically via http://i94.cbp.dhs.gov prior to their arrival to save time and to enjoy front of the line privileges when they arrive at a land border port to complete the process.

Travelers receive a provisional I-94 after submitting their application and payment online. To finalize the I-94 process, travelers must present themselves at a port of entry within seven days of their application to be interviewed by a CBP officer, submit biometric fingerscans and have a photo taken. The Laredo Port of Entry will extend front of the line privileges to travelers who submit their I-94 applications electronically and present their provisional I-94 permit receipt.
