United ISD Announces Federal and State Programs Executive Director

 (Laredo, Texas)-The United Independent School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos are pleased to announce Rebecca C. Morales as the new Executive Director of Federal and State Programs.

Rebecca C. Morales is an eighteen-year veteran educator of United ISD with an extensive background in education. She is a graduate of Texas A&M International University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Bilingual Education, as well as a Master of Science in Education in Educational Administration.

For the past six years, she has served United ISD as the principal of United Middle School.  Prior to working as Principal at United Middle, she served as an Assistant Principal and Academic Coordinator at United Middle, and as a classroom teacher at Matias De Llano Elementary.

Mrs. Morales’ passion for being an educator has allowed her to amass a number of distinctions such as Teacher of the Year, Texas Honor Roll School, Region One Principal of the Year, and as a Semi-Finalist for H-E-B’s Excellence in Education Award.

As the Executive Director of Federal and State Programs, Mrs. Morales will oversee Federal and State Compensatory funding and fiscal compliance guidance to all campuses and departments.  In addition, she will oversee Federal Title programs:  Title I, Part A; Title I, Part C; Title II, Part A State Compensatory Education; and the Afterschool Adventures Program.  Mrs. Morales stated, “I am deeply honored to have been entrusted to serve in this capacity.  Although it is bittersweet to leave United Middle School, which has been my home for the past 12 years, I am excited about working with campus and district administration in this new role.  I am confident that together we will continue making the best educational decisions for our United ISD students.”

Mrs. Morales will assume her newly appointed position in July 2019.
