United ISD Hosts 31st Annual Science Fair

(Laredo, Texas)-United ISD hosted its 31st Annual Science Fair for middle and high school students at the Student Activity Complex on February 7, 2019. A distinguished panel of community professionals that included local professors, doctors, and engineers judged the Science projects. The Grand Champion for the high school division is United High School’s Joseph Orduño. In addition to earning the top spot, Orduño also earned the NASA Earth System Science Award, Naval Science Award, and the Yale Science and Engineering Award. Orduño will go on to represent United ISD at the State Fair at Texas A & M University in College Station and at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, Arizona later on this year.
The high school Reserve Grand Champion is Manuel Chapa from AHS. Chapa also earned a Naval Science Award and an Air Force Award. In the middle school division, Austlynn Quiroz from United Middle School won the Grand Champion title and Dominic Velazquez who is from Trautmann Middle School won the Reserve Grand Champion.
