UISD’s Teachers of the Year Select “Free Rides” From The Powell Watson Auto Group

(Laredo, Texas)-The Powell Watson Auto Group rewarded United ISD’s Teachers of the Year with a year of no-cost driving privileges. Elementary School Teacher of the Year Amanda K. Sanchez (Amparo Gutierrez Elementary School), and Secondary School Teacher of the Year Timothy Cantu (United High School), each selected the first of four vehicles that they will drive over the course of the next 12 months. Ms. Sanchez chose a Mercedes C-300 and Mr. Cantu selected a Cadillac XT5. Operations Manager Zachary Powell said that supporting the great work of local educators and students has always been a priority for the locally owned company.
The Powell Watson Motors Auto Group is also the lead sponsor for UISD’s annual Golf Tournament for Scholars, which has raised over $200,000.00 in scholarship funds since 2015. All proceeds from the annual tournament are administered as start- up scholarships for college bound UISD seniors. This year’s tournament is scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the Max A. Mandel Golf Course located at 27700 Mines Road (FM1472).
