(Laredo, Texas)-An education minister from 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner’s Malala Yousafzai’s province in Pakistan is the next scheduled speaker for the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Presidential Speakers Series.
Dr. Khalid Khan will present “One Generation of Educated Women” today at 6:30 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theatre. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The Series is coordinated by University College.
Dr. Khan is a strong proponent of Pakistan’s government opening universities to improve educational opportunities for all children, and girls in particular.
This province is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where a young Malala Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban for standing firm on her belief that girls have a right to an education. Malala survived and has become a world advocate for girls’ rights and education.
