Chief Ray Garner Returning to UISD Police Department

(Laredo, Texas)-The UISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos are pleased to announce that Chief Ray Garner has been appointed as Chief of Police for UISD’s Police Department . The formal announcement was made during a meeting of the Board of Trustees on March 22, 2017. Garner previously served as Chief of Police for UISD from 2009 to 2013, and is currently Chief of Police for the City of Laredo. Upon his return, Chief Garner will oversee 67 police officers, 113 security guards, 3 k-9 officers and 23 additional personnel. ”Law enforcement and education are my passions in life, and I’ve been involved in education for 33 years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to UISD, and appreciate the trust that the Board of Trustees has placed in me. It’s a natural fit for me to return to the district, and it will also give me more time to spendwith my family”, he said.

Garner RayChief Garner fondly recalls his four years with City of Laredo Police Department as outstanding and fruitful, and said that he will augment the United ISD Police Department with the additional knowledge that he has gained. “I wish to thank the City Council, Mayor Pete Saenz and city management for their support and the position I hold now”, he concluded. An effective start date with UISD has not yet been determined.
