The District Attorney’s Office secured a guilty plea in its case against Victor Manuel Almanza-Alvarado Jr., for killing his father two years ago.
On October 25, 2014, Laredo police officers responded to a call at approximately 9:00 p.m. to the 1500 block of Mier St. for a possible auto pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, Victor Manuel Almanza-Medrano was not hit by a vehicle but instead he was found with lacerations to the body.
A witness stated that an argument ensued between Almanza-Medrano and his son, Victor Manuel Almanza-Alvarado Jr., who stabbed his father and fled the scene in a red in color truck. Almanza-Medrano sustained multiple stab wounds to the left side of his face, neck, chest and right hand. Almanza-Alvarado was detained minutes later at the intersection of Tilden and Clark and charged with murder, a first degree felony in the State of Texas.
Almanza-Alvarado agreed to a plea deal where he will serve 45 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division. He was sentenced before the 341st District Court.
Assistant District Attorney Ana De La Rosa prosecuted the case for the State.
