UISD Announces STARR Testing Dates

(Laredo, Texas)-The United Independent School District reminds all parents that the next round of STAAR testing will be administered
Monday, May 2, thru Thursday, July 14, 2016.
TEST SCHEDULE
May 2 STAAR/EOC Algebra 1
May 4 STAAR/ EOC U.S. History
May 5 STAAR/ EOC Biology
May 9 STAAR Grades 3, 4, 6, & 7 Math
STARR Grades 5 & 8 (Retest)
May 10 Starr Grades 3,4,6 & 7 Reading
May 10 Starr Grades 5 & 8 Reading (Retest)
May 11 STAAR Grades 5 & 8 Science
May 11 STARR/EOC Algebra II
May 12 STARR Grade 8 Social Studies
June 21 STARR Grades 5 & 8 Math (Retest)
June 22 STARR Grades 5 & 8 Reading (Retest)
July 11 STARR/EOC English 1
July 12 STARR/EOC Biology & U.S. History
July 13 STARR/EOC English II
July 14 STARR/EOC Algebra I
While the District will continue to work with students in preparing them for these tests, parents are also encouraged to consider using the following test taking tips with their child provided by the www.testtakingtips.com website:
1. Mark down test days on your calendar so you and your child are both aware of testing dates.
2. As a parent, keep a positive attitude about tests. Also, talking with your child about the test can help relieve stress about test taking.
3. Encourage your child to stay relaxed when taking the tests.
4. Make sure that your child gets enough sleep the night before the test.
5. Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and avoid heavy foods that may make him/her groggy and avoid high sugar foods that may make him/her hyper.
6. On the day of the test, make sure that your child gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time to school.
7. Praise/reward your child for their hard work in preparing for these tests.
