Texas National Army Guard Donates School Supplies to Nye Elementary

(Laredo, Texas)-The Texas National Army Guard Laredo recently donated school supplies to Nye Elementary. The school supplies will be distributed to students who need additional supplies for classrooms activities.
“Anything that can be used in school and for our students is more than welcome,” said Patricia Lanas, Nye Principal. She added, “We are sincerely grateful and humbled for this kind gesture.”
Staff Sergeant Torres and Maria Lopez Family Coordinator spoke to the 4th grade students about their job duties and responsibilities with the Texas Army National Guard. Students took the opportunity to ask questions and learned about the importance of hard work, perseverance and determination.
“Stay focused on your goals, work hard and never give up on your dreams,” was the message from Sgt. Flores.
Students expressed their appreciation for the visit by writing personal thank you letters and compiling them in a keepsake book, which was given to Sgt. Flores.
