Alexander Senior Signs on with University of Colorado

(Laredo, Tx)-On May 13, 2014, Alexander high school senior Claire Kazen signed a four year Track and Field scholarship for the University at Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. Kazen has been one of the most prolific point scorers in Laredo high school history and has numerous accomlishments to her credit.
She has four District championships, three Border Olympic championships, two area championships and was a state qualifier in 2012. Kazen is also the recipient of the 2012 Billy Hall High Point Athlete Award and a National Champion in the Javelin throw for ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. As a member of HOSA, Kazen competed and was crowned Area Pathophysiology Champion and was a 2014 HOSA State Qualifier. Kazen is graduating as the #9 student in her class and is looking forward to the next phase of her athletic and academic journey.
Prior to signing her scholarship, Kazen took time to thank her parents and coaches Javier Coronado and Gilbert Moreno for all their help and support. “I am very excited about the next four years and I hope that I can be an inspiration to up and coming athletes”, said Kazen, who is the daughter of John Kazen and Dr. Hayley Kazen.
