(Laredo, Tx)-Mayor Salinas would like to invite the community to join the Guns-N-Hoses organization in the first ever Unity Bowl, a friendly, rivalry football game between Team Aranda, composed of off-duty firefighters and police officers, and Brushdogs, the combined off-duty Border Patrol agents and Office of Field Operation Customs officers’ team. The full-contact football game – no flag football here, folks! – will be to benefit the Marcos Aranda family, who is still facing medical expenses after the passing of Laredo Firefighter Marcos Aranda from cancer earlier this year.
“This is what our community is about: coming together to remember a fallen hero, and to help each other as family,” said Mayor Salinas.
While Mayor Salinas pledged his loyalty to Team Aranda, “they are the City of Laredo team, after all,” he did promise to cheer on the Brushdogs, as well, thanking them for all they did to not only keep our border safe and secure, but also for their strong relationship with local law enforcement for the safety of the entire community.
The game itself will be held on this Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Shirley Field, 2002 San Bernardo Avenue along Garden Street. The doors open at 6:00 p.m.; kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.
Presale tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the following locations:
