Laredo, Texas –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry on Tuesday seized $185,000 in methamphetamine hidden in a vehicle battery.   The seizure occurred Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Lincoln-Juarez Bridge. A CBP officer referred a 2006 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 20-year-old female U.S. citizen from Dallas for a secondary inspection.  CBP officers took a closer look at the Tahoe and found six bundles containing a total of 12 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle’s battery.  The methamphetamine has a street value of $185,000.

CBP officers seized the alleged methamphetamines and arrested the woman. She was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.

“This is the second significant methamphetamine seizure we have had in the past several days,” said Sidney Aki, CBP Port Director, Laredo, Texas Port of Entry.  “Our officers maintain their vigilance amid increased traffic for the Washington’s Birthday festivities and their perseverance paid off with this seizure.”
