LISD campuses earn Gold Performance Acknowledgements

Laredo Independent School District campuses have earned Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPA) according to the Texas Education Agency. The acknowledgements recognize districts and campuses for their high academic performances on 13 different indicators including Advanced Course/Dual Enrollment Completion; Advanced Placement Results; Attendance Rate; College-Ready Graduates; Commended Performance in Reading/ELA, Mathematics, Writing, Science, and Social Studies on TAKS; Recommended High School Program; SAT/ACT Results; Texas Success Initiative (TSI) for English and Math; and Comparable Improvement in Reading and Math scores in TAKS.
Acknowledgements on attendance rates were given to LISD and 22 campuses, which are five more acknowledgements than the district earned last year. The district received 18 commended performance acknowledgements on specific sections of TAKS. The district’s other 12 acknowledgements were for comparable improvement in either reading or math.
“The acknowledgements our campuses have received from the Texas Education Agency indicate that the district is moving in the right direction,” said Dr. Marcus Nelson, LISD Superintendent. “We are proud of our schools accomplishments. We will continue working diligently to get our district to the next level.”
The Early College High School earned the most acknowledgements with nine. Heights and Macdonell Elementary both earned five acknowledgements. Milton and Daiches Elementary Schools joined Memorial Middle with four acknowledgements.
Laredo ISD, the district’s three comprehensive high schools and the Early College High School were awarded acknowledgements for graduates in the Recommended High School Program. The Early College High School also received acknowledgements for Advanced Course/Dual Enrollment Completion, Advanced Placement, Attendance Rate, Commended Performance in Reading, Math, and Social Studies, and Texas Success Initiative (TSI) in English and Math.
Heights Elementary was recognized with acknowledgements in Attendance, Commended Performance in Reading, Math, and Science, and Comparable
Improvement in Reading. Macdonell Elementary received acknowledgements in Attendance, and Commended Performance in Reading, Math, Writing, and Science. Memorial Middle School was awarded acknowledgements in Attendance, Commended Performance in Social Studies and Comparable Improvement in Reading and Math. Milton Elementary brought home acknowledgements in Attendance, Commended Performance in Math and Science, and Comparable Improvement in Math. Daiches Elementary was recognized with acknowledgements in Attendance, Commended Performance in Science, and Comparable Improvement in Reading and Math.
