Imagine having job interviewers come to you instead of having to go out on multiple interviews in various places. Some Texas A&M International University students won’t have to imagine that situation because school district representatives will visit them at the TAMIU Best Teaching Practices/Teacher Fair Friday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the TAMIU Student Center Ballroom.
This event is exclusively for graduating Fall 2009 TAMIU student teachers.
“In typical teacher fairs, the students visit with the school district recruiters with a resume. This is a unique event because recruiters are able to see the students’ work and interact with them as well as provide on-site interviews,” explained Cassandra Wheeler, executive director, TAMIU Office of Career Services.
“Because the event takes place at the end of the semester, student teachers are able to start employment immediately,” Wheeler added. The TAMIU College of Education, Office of Career Services and the Office of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement are sponsoring the event.
Student teachers will present an interactive bulletin board highlighting their specialty areas. They will also have on-site interviews with representatives from more than 20 school districts including Alice Independent School District, Austin I.S.D., Beeville I.S.D., Carrizo Springs Consolidated I.S.D., Ector County I.S.D., Harlingen C.I.S.D., Judson I.S.D., Laredo I.S.D., United I.S.D., Zapata County I.S.D. and others.
