Recently, City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas named three outstanding Laredoans as Ambassadors of the Republic of the Rio Grande, the City of Laredo’s highest recognition. Prior to joining Texas in its fight for independence, Laredo formed its own, the Republic of the Rio Grande, seeking to be independent from both Mexico and Texas.

LPD to Begin Impounding Uninsured Vehicles

  Effective May 01, 2009, the Laredo Police Department will begin towing vehicles without liability insurance.  Purpose:  Drivers are required by law to maintain financial responsibility in order to operate vehicles on Texas roadways.  This new initiative is for the impounding of a vehicle that is being operated within the jurisdictional limits of the City
