Laredo, Texas—The City of Laredo is aware of a false and misleading social media post claiming that the water in the area of McPherson Rd. and Jacaman Rd. is contaminated. The City wants to make clear that this claim is completely false.
Our water supply is tested consistently and meets or exceeds all state and federal safety standards.
Spreading false information about public health is irresponsible and undermines the trust and safety of the community. Such posts cause unnecessary fear, disrupt daily life, and divert valuable resources from more critical matters.
The activity in the stated area that prompted these false rumors is connected to the closure and remediation of an old gas well—a positive step toward improving the safety and environmental health of the community.
