Rep. Cuellar Receives Recognition from Border Region Behavioral Health Center

Laredo, TX – Congressman Henry Cuellar, Ph.D. (TX-28) received recognition from the Border Region Behavioral Health Center.
“I would like to thank the health center’s doctors and staff for helping people of all ages learn to cope with and overcome their mental health and behavioral struggles,” said Dr. Cuellar, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. “I thank the Border Region Behavioral Health Center for their critical work in promoting independence and improving the overall quality of life for their patients.”
The Border Region Behavioral Health Center is a critical mental health authority in the South Texas Community. It serves Webb, Jim Hogg, Zapata, and Starr Counties.
They offer services to children, adults, and individuals with mental health issues and/or intellectual disabilities.
In addition, the Border Region Behavioral Health Center also provides crisis counseling, recovery services, and more. Mental health resources and programs are essential to an individual’s growth and wellbeing.
Congressman Cuellar has secured billions of dollars in federal funding for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and their efforts to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness in America’s communities.
Congressman Cuellar was integral in delivering $4,000,000 in federal funding from SAMHSA to the Border Region Behavioral Health Center in 2021.
The funding was used to provide more staff for intakes, crisis counseling, and link clients to more services. It was also used to increase doctor time.
