Mayor Issues Statement on the Current Status of the Boil Water Notice

Laredo, Texas – “As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguard public health, the City of Laredo wants to share the status and results of the tests conducted today, as it was stated during Saturday’s mid-day communications. The Utilities Department conducted and completed the 60 water quality tests in response to the recent boil water notice as required by TCEQ. Of these tests, one tested positive for E. coli and two tested positive for high bacteria. Only the one E. coli positive test is what impacts the boil water notice, because the two bacteria positives can be mitigated through flushing protocols.
After submitting the results to TCEQ, their firm instructions are to remain on a citywide boil water notice. The Utilities Department will move forward with the needed process, remaining on the field overnight and flushing the lines. Another set of samples will be collect on Sunday morning, following the range of schedules established by TCEQ.
Rest assured, the safety of our residents is our top priority. We will continue to provide updates as we progress toward restoring the full integrity of Laredo’s water system. We deeply appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time as we work diligently to resolve this matter.” – said Mayor Dr. Victor D. Trevino.
The City of Laredo will conduct a water distribution on Sunday, October 13, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM at the following locations:
Veteran’s Field Parking – 2200 Sta. Maria Ave.
LBJ 9th grade campus – 5511 St Luke Blvd.
