Laredo, TX (Webb County) — On Tuesday, at approximately 3 pm, Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 35-mile marker of Interstate 35 southbound in reference to a stranded motorist.
When the deputy arrived, he made contact with a 70-year-old man who was sitting on the southbound access road and appeared to be disoriented.
After further investigation, the deputy determined that the man was a missing person out of West, Texas, near Waco, and while gathering more information, he also learned the man had left home on Friday evening and never returned.
The deputy then made contact with the man’s family, who traveled from Austin to pick up their father, who was being held under supervision at the Sheriff’s Office substation.
“I congratulate the Border Patrol agent who spotted the man on the side of the road and who then immediately called our office to report the incident,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “Taking into consideration the man’s condition, this scenario could have very easily taken a turn for the worse. I am glad and grateful the man has been reunited with his family.”
