United ISD Garners A-Rating From TEA for 2021-22 School Year

(Laredo, Texas)-The Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced that United Independent School District received an overall rating of “A” from the Texas Education Agency as part of their 2021-22 state accountability rating.
The District’s Overall Performance Summary is as follows:
• Student Achievement— UISD scored a 90 overall
STAAR Performance – 83
College, Career, and Military Readiness – 96
Graduation Rate – 90
• School Progress— UISD scored a 93 overall
Academic Growth – 93
Relative Performance – 93
• Closing Performance Gaps— UISD scored a 95
In addition, the District earned a Postsecondary Readiness Distinction. The postsecondary readiness distinction takes into account factors such as graduation rates, ACT/SAT participation and performance, Career and Technical Education (CTE) graduates, and dual-credit course completion rates.
United ISD hosted a press conference to share the incredible achievements of students, parents, teachers, campus and district administrators, and all employees of the district. During the press conference, Superintendent of Schools David H. Gonzalez, stated, “As a school district, we feel very good about how well we’ve done.
The United effort of every department within our District came together as one unit to provide instruction in a safe and nurturing environment for all our students. This is a good indication that the systems we have in place are working and, more importantly, we have the right people in the right positions.”
Board Vice-President Aliza Flores Oliveros shared her enthusiasm upon finding out that the district received an A-Rating from TEA, “With all the challenges our teachers and students have faced and overcome, from a pandemic to extreme weather events, they have made a tremendous accomplishment for the third time.
This achievement says a lot about everyone in our District, and I am proud to be a part of it!”
Emma Leza, Associate Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction shared, “We are extremely proud that we can once again say that we got an “A” from the State of Texas, and this one is our third!” Board Secretary Juan Roberto Ramirez was in attendance and stated, “It is a great honor to be here today to talk about how our students did.
A lot has happened over the last two years, most of our students were attending school online from home, and there were many difficulties. Our teachers worked double-time to help our students succeed and everyone came through to earn top scores from the state.”

The report cards spotlight specific strengths, in addition to any challenges, that can assure the needs of all students are being met. Parents can search by district or school name and compare that district’s or school’s performance to others in their area.
