International Day of Peace Observed at United High School’s 9th Grade Campus

(Laredo, Texas)- This year, United High School 9th Grade campus students in Mrs. Rosa Salazar’s and Mrs. Stephania Qunitero’s classes observed the International Day of Peace with a special project.
This year’s focus was Profiles in Peacebuilding. Students created life-size figures of peacebuilders from different parts of the world that highlighted their positive impact. In addition, the figures were displayed throughout the campus so that all students could draw inspiration from their noteworthy accomplishments.
United High School’s young geographers seek to elevate the stories of individual peacebuilders around the world and inspire future generations to reach for the same goals. The International Day of Peace is observed worldwide on September 21. Established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly, the annual observance seeks to promote a global culture of peace and non-violence.
