(Laredo, Texas)-Recently, two United High School seniors signed on the dotted line for basketball scholarships. Elisa Peralta signed a Letter of Intent for Schriener University in Kerrville,Texas and will pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Isabella Lopez signed a Letter of Intent for the University of North Texas in Dallas, Texas where she will enroll in the biology and chemistry program. Prior to the signings, coach Frank Gonzalez lauded the two players for what they brought to the Longhorn team.
” Both of these outstanding young ladies have put so much hard work and energy into their endeavors on and off the court. Not only are they great players, but also great people. It has been an honor and privilege to work with them and witness their growth as athletes and high academic achievers”, said Gonzalez. UISD Athletic Director Bobby Cruz noted the extraordinary challenge of being chosen for collegiate basketball teams. “In basketball, an average of only 14 players is needed to round-out a team.
The fact that Isabella and Elisa were chosen from very large pools of candidates is a testament to their talents as well as the great basketball programs that we have at UISD. I wish to congratulate them and thank their parents, coaches and teammates for all their support” said Cruz.
