City of Laredo Receives Additional 5,000 COVID-19 Vaccines

Laredo, TEXAS – The City of Laredo is pleased to announce that, after receiving 5,000 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, it will continue moving forward with the vaccination process. Due to the success of the vaccine distribution during the last two weeks, the City of Laredo will quickly continue collaborating with community partners including United Independent School District (UISD), Laredo Independent School District (LISD), Laredo College and Sames Auto Arena. This time, there will be 14 COVID-19 Vaccine Points of Dispensing (PODs) across the city.
The city would like to remind the public that these vaccines are for first dose inoculations only and we will continue to focus and prioritize those who fall under the Phase 1A and 1B categories.
The online portal and phone lines to set an appointment will open Friday, February 5, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. For those who wish to make an appointment online, they need to visit www.vaccinatelaredo.com. To make an appointment via phone, they can call 3-1-1. The allotted vaccines from the online and phone appointments will be administered on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the 14 locations (POD’s).
The 5,000 vaccines will be distributed as follows: 3,088 for online and 772 for phone appointments. The locations include:
Sames Auto Arena – 1,080 vaccines
UISD (6 locations) – 1,500 vaccines
San Isidro Elementary
Alexander High School
Fasken Elementary
Los Obispos Middle School
Antonio Gonzalez Middle School
Lyndon B. Johnson High School – 9th Grade Campus
LISD (6 locations) – 1,500 vaccines
McDonald Elementary
Farias Elementary
Nixon High School
Sanchez Ochoa Elementary
Cigarroa Middle School
Santo Niño Elementary
Laredo College (South Campus – 5500 South Zapata Hwy.) – 200 vaccines
The City of Laredo has been designated as a HUB by the Department of State Health Services. Therefore, the city has to distribute the rest of the allocated vaccines to the surrounding areas including: Zapata County, Jim Hogg County, Webb County, Rio Bravo and El Cenizo. The number of vaccines that will be distributed to these areas is based on their population number.
