Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Local Man on Drug Charges

Laredo, TX (Webb County) –Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Sunday arrested a local man on drug charges following a traffic stop in northwest Laredo.
After pulling over Jose Angel Rodriguez, 57, for a speeding violation along the 600 block of Amiens Loop, deputies noticed he was an unlicensed driver and appeared to be acting nervous. A further inspection of the Ford-F150 led to three plastic-wrapped bundles in the backseat of the pick-up.
The bundles, which weighed 3 kilograms, tested positive for cocaine and its estimated street value is $75,000.
“These drugs could have very easily ended up in the wrong hands, especially those of our children,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “I applaud the work of my deputies for being extra vigilant and finding these drugs.”
Rodriguez was charged with possession of controlled substance and was remanded to the Webb County Jail.
