(Laredo, Texas)-United ISD’s Child Nutrition Program kicks-off their annual School breakfast week in a special ceremony at United Middle School. For the 2nd year in a row, Austlyn Quiroz, won the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) “You art what you eat contest” for National School Breakfast Week (NSLW), scheduled for March 2-6, 2020. The theme for this years’ statewide competition is Save the Day with a Healthy School Breakfast. Ms. Quiroz submitted her entry last year as a 6th grader. Subsequently, her vision inspired other elementary level posters that are currently being delivered to every elementary school campus across Texas for NSLW. Ms. Quiroz received an award package, and her artwork will be displayed at the State Capital. She is currently attending her 2nd year of middle school at United Middle School.
National School Breakfast Week is a sponsored campaign aimed to promote healthy eating. Students across the district are invited to visit the Department of Agriculture web page for fun activities aimed at developing healthy eating habits. Campuses across the district will be showcasing various healthy eating activities.
