Laredo, TX— Sheriff Martin Cuellar, District Attorney Isidro Alaniz, and Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) today announced $150,000 in federal funds for Webb County’s Sheriff Office as well as the District Attorney’s Office. These funds, awarded through the DOJ’s Bureau of Justice Assistance Gulf States Regional Law Enforcement Technology Training and Technical Assistance Initiative, will assist with information and intelligence sharing between local law enforcement.
“It is critical that our law enforcement has cutting-edge technology to keep our community safe,” said Congressman Cuellar. “These funds will be used to purchase new radios, which will expand our law enforcement information sharing system and improve our ability to detect, prevent, and respond. As a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to ensure law enforcement has the necessary funding so they can effectively and efficiently do their jobs. I want to thank Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar, District Attorney Isidro Alaniz and the rest of our local law enforcement for their tireless work in protecting our community.”
