CBP to Temporarily Halt Vehicular Traffic at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge during 18th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony to Honor the 9/11 Attack Victims; Gateway to the Americas International Bridge to Serve as Alternate Vehicle Crossing Location

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Laredo Port of Entry would like to advise the traveling public of the temporary stoppage of vehicular traffic at Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge the morning of Sept. 11 during the 18th annual commemoration ceremony to honor the 9/11 attack victims and the availability of alternate crossing locations.
“We want to remind the traveling public that CBP will make necessary adjustments to ensure safe and efficient continuity of operations and traffic flow during the temporary stoppage of Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge vehicular traffic during the commemoration ceremony by making alternate crossing locations available,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at approximately 7:00 a.m., CBP, in collaboration with the City of Laredo and the government of Mexico, will temporarily halt all vehicular and commercial bus traffic at Juarez- Lincoln International Bridge in order to host the 9/11 ceremony. Vehicular traffic is expected to resume at 8 a.m. CBP encourages the traveling public to make any and all necessary arrangements to cross prior to 6 a.m. if they are planning to utilize the Juarez-Lincoln International bridge that morning.
CBP reminds the traveling public that the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge will be available during the 9/11 ceremony. The Gateway to the Americas Bridge will have all fourteen pedestrian processing booths, bicycle lane, SENTRI and for this one time only, normal vehicular traffic available.
CBP would like to remind the traveling public the importance of obtaining and utilizing their radio frequency identification documents (RFID)-equipped travel documents such as U.S. passport cards and the newer versions (i.e. since 2011) of the border crossing card and resident alien card, to utilize the Ready Lanes and for travelers to have their entry documents ready as they approach the booth to facilitate their processing.
