Dr. Michael A. Hochman Announces Glasses for Classes Initiative

Courtesy Lauren Cavazos,

(Laredo, Texas)-Students from United ISD’s Freedom Elementary recently gathered at Dr. Michael A. Hochman’s office for a special announcement.  Dr. Hochman has created an initiative to ensure that students who are in need of glasses and eye care are provided with the exams and glasses to correct their vision, free of charge.

Dr. Hochman has served Laredo as a board certified ophthalmologist for the past 20 years and is a strong advocate for eye health and eye care.

Dr. Hochman’s Glasses for Classes program aims to provide students with the opportunity to get a free consultation, eye exam, and to choose a pair of glasses to correct their vision.  Dr. Hochman stated, “It is very common for children to have issues that affect their eyesight before they even know it. As a result, their development and education is hindered. Having poor vision makes it difficult for children to read certain texts and to comprehend words. Poor vision also causes headaches, strains the eyes, and leads to short attention span when it comes to visual tasks, potentially affecting their safety.”  Dr. Hochman will provide these services to various children so that they will be ready for the new school year.

United ISD wishes to thank Dr. Michael A. Hochman for providing our students with eye care and ensuring they will have a productive and successful school year.
