(Laredo, Texas)-Astronauts in Training, a respite summer camp for children with special needs at RBC was a complete success. Campers enjoyed demonstrations by the Laredo Sector Border Patrol, Laredo Fire Department, Joe’s Puppet Show, Healthy Physiques by Enid, Gonzalez Ceramics, and Rodeo Dental.
All activities were linked to promoting, maintaining, and developing the skills needed to be functional in settings such as school, home, and different places and environments encouraging participation in daily life skills in the areas of learning, self-esteem, self-confidence, independence, healthy exercising, safety, and social interaction.
The 2018 Respite Summer Camp was made possible through a grant, in collaboration with South Texas Aging and Disability Resource Center a program of South Texas Development Council through the Texas Department of Human Resources Commission.
