Power outage caused issues with heating and ventilation system, McAllen Fire crews still on scene investigating
(McAllen, Texas)-The McAllen Public Library was closed earlier today and will remain closed for the rest of the day as a precaution due to the smell of smoke. All patrons were quickly and safely evacuated and neither smoke nor fire were detected.
A minor power outage caused the heating system to kick-in immediately after power was restored. The smell of smoke prompted McAllen Library administration to call 9-1-1- and to quickly evacuate the building. Several fire crews arrived and have been thoroughly investigating the various heating and AC units and other electrical systems.
Because there are still several areas left to clear by HVAC technicians and fire crews, the McAllen Public Library will be closed for the remainder of the day.
Until the McAllen firefighters give an all clear on the building, the library is scheduled to remain closed.
